How to play Clueterra

Mystery countries, a few clues each, and one question: where in the world is this? Here is how a run goes. Every block below is the real thing, so go ahead and try it.

01

Pick your mode

Easy is a gentle warm-up and open to everyone. Normal and Hard give vaguer clues and unlock with a free account. Everyone in the same mode gets the same countries that day.

Read the clues

Each country starts with a single clue. If it is not enough, open the next one. Clues go from vague to obvious, and every extra clue lowers the XP you can still win.

Try it

Open the clues one by one and notice when you know the answer.

03

Type your guess

Start typing a country and pick it from the list. You get a limited number of tries per country, and a wrong guess costs XP, so sometimes it pays to open one more clue first.

This is the search from the game. Which country are the clues above about?

04

Collect XP, streaks and badges

At the end of the run you see how you did on every country. XP fills your level bar, playing on consecutive days builds a streak, and some badges stay hidden until you earn them.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play without an account?

Yes — guests can jump into Easy mode instantly. Creating an account unlocks Normal and Hard modes, saves your XP and streak progress, and lets you earn badges.

How is XP calculated?

Fewer clues revealed + fewer wrong guesses + faster solve = more XP per country. The final score is the sum across all countries in the run.

How do I earn badges?

Badges are awarded automatically when you hit specific milestones — completing your first run, maintaining streaks, achieving perfect accuracy, and more. They appear on your profile permanently.
