How much does Medog Hydropower Station cost?

The Medog hydropower station, formally the lower Yarlung Tsangpo hydropower project, is the cascade of five hydropower stations planned on the lower reaches of the Yarlung Tsangpo river in Tibet, developed by the newly formed China Yajiang Group. Premier Li Qiang attended the groundbreaking ceremony at the Milin dam site in Nyingchi on 19 July 2025 and declared construction started. The official report on the ceremony states that the project uses river bend cutoff and tunnel diversion to build five cascade power stations with a total investment of about 1.2 trillion yuan.
