How much did the Nam Ngum Dam cost to build?
The Nam Ngum Dam (Nam Ngum 1) is the 70 m high gravity concrete dam on the Nam Ngum River in Laos, owned by Electricite du Laos, whose reservoir (Ang Nam Ngum) holds 4.7 cubic kilometres and whose power station of about 155 MW exports electricity to Thailand. It was built in three stages: Stage I from 1968 to 1971 for USD 28 million, Stage II (1970s) for USD 49 million and Stage III from 1983 to 1984 for USD 20 million, which Wikipedia sums to a total cost of USD 97 million. The World Bank's 1990 completion report on the Stage III credit confirms a final project cost of US$20.18 million against US$20.0 million appraised.
