How much did the A14 Cambridge–Huntingdon improvement scheme cost?
The A14 Cambridge–Huntingdon improvement scheme rebuilt a heavily congested strategic link between the A1 and M11. Its 21-mile programme combined a new 12.5-mile Huntingdon bypass, widening of existing A14 and A1 sections, junction reconstruction, local access roads and a 750-metre Great Ouse viaduct. Construction began in November 2016; the upgraded mainline opened in May 2020 and the remaining Huntingdon connections were completed in June 2022. The recorded GBP 1.5 billion cost belongs to this defined scheme, not to the full 127-mile A14 between Catthorpe and Felixstowe.
