How much did the A3 Hindhead improvement cost?

The A3 Hindhead improvement replaced the final single-carriageway bottleneck between the M25 and Portsmouth with 6.5 kilometres of new dual carriageway. Its centrepiece is a 1.9-kilometre twin-bore tunnel beneath Hindhead Common and the Devil's Punch Bowl, accompanied by eight bridges and restoration of the former surface route. Online construction began in April 2007; the southbound tunnel opened on 27 July 2011 and the northbound bore followed on 29 July. Highways England later recorded GBP 370.9 million of actual investment spend across 2001–2013, while its five-year evaluation found all-injury collisions in the affected area had fallen by 69 percent.
