What is the approved budget of A7 Afsluitdijk reinforcement and renewal?

The Afsluitdijk programme strengthens and renews the 32-kilometre sea barrier that carries the A7 between North Holland and Friesland. Its scope includes stronger dike protection, safer A7 shoulders, new storm-surge barriers, pumps and discharge sluices, ecological works and renewal of ageing structures. The A7 road work and main dike reinforcement were completed before the new pumping and discharge complex entered service in 2026, while related restoration and major maintenance remain scheduled through 2030.
