How much was Aldwych station renewal proposal expected to cost?

Aldwych is a disused Piccadilly line station in central London, opened as Strand on 30 November 1907 at the end of a short branch from Holborn. The lightly used shuttle had only about 450 passengers a day by the time it closed. London Underground said in 1994 that keeping the branch open would require GBP 3.8 million to replace the original lifts and a further GBP 3 million for line maintenance; the investment was not approved and the station closed on 30 September 1994. This project record covers that abandoned renewal proposal, not the original station build, the Jubilee line or a later DLR extension study.
