How much did the original Algiers Metro Line 1 section cost?

The original operating section of Algiers Metro Line 1 runs from Tafourah–Grande Poste to Haï El Badr. Physical work began in the mid-1980s, stopped during Algeria's financial crisis, resumed in 1990 and accelerated after the project was relaunched in the 2000s. The 9-kilometre, ten-station section was inaugurated on 31 October 2011 and entered passenger service the next day. Before opening, Algeria's transport minister reported that the completed original section had cost DZD 90 billion, about USD 1.2 billion; that figure excludes the later Line 1 extensions.
