How much did American Surety Building cost to build?
The American Surety Building at 100 Broadway is a landmark early office skyscraper in Lower Manhattan. Bruce Price's steel-framed, granite-clad tower was built from 1894 to 1896 using caisson foundations and an unusually complete curtain-wall system. Herman Lee Meader enlarged it between 1920 and 1922, extending both principal facades and adding two penthouse stories while preserving the original neo-Renaissance composition.
