How much does Arctic Railway cost?
The Arctic Railway was a proposed 465-kilometre rail connection from Rovaniemi in Finland to the ice-free port of Kirkenes in Norway. A 2018 Finnish-Norwegian study evaluated it primarily as a freight corridor for minerals, fish, timber and forestry products, with possible passenger use. In February 2019 the joint working group found that projected traffic could not make the line commercially viable and proposed no further measures; neither country made a construction decision.
