How much did Baltimore Metro Sections A and B cost?

Baltimore Metro Sections A and B built the first 13.55 miles of the city's heavy-rail subway, from Charles Center through Reisterstown Plaza to Owings Mills. Maryland's transit agency records Section A as completed in November 1983 and the six-mile Owings Mills extension, Section B, in July 1987. The Federal Transit Administration's October 2026 Capital Cost Database lists 37 as-built cost elements for these two sections totaling $917,946,566 in 1982 midpoint-of-construction dollars. The later Section C extension to Johns Hopkins Hospital is not part of this cost claim.
