What is the approved budget of Bangalore Commuter Rail?
The Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project is an under-construction, four-corridor commuter-rail network being delivered by K-RIDE across Bengaluru and its suburbs. India's Ministry of Railways approved 148.17 km in October 2020 at a sanctioned cost of ?15,767 crore. A pre-approval 2020 budget announcement had used ?18,600 crore, but the sanctioned amount is the relevant project budget, not the earlier 2013 or 2016 proposals for different alignments. The Ministry of Statistics still listed ?15,767 crore as both original and revised cost in April 2026, with ?3,224.09 crore spent and physical progress at 19.95%. Its monitored completion date had moved from December 2026 to March 2030; that is a forecast, not an opening date.
