What investment did China's 2019 planning approval assign to Beijing's Line 13B upgrade?
Beijing's Line 13 capacity-upgrade programme splits the existing U-shaped metro line into two routes. The planned 13B route runs from Malianwa to Dongzhimen, combining the eastern part of the operating Line 13 with a new western section and rebuilt connections. The 2019 national planning approval covered a roughly 32-kilometre 13B route and CNY 12.64 billion of planned investment. Later procurement documents specify about 32.2 kilometres and six new stations. The full upgrade was still under construction in 2026; the old 2022 opening target was not achieved.
