How much did Bellagio Resort & Casino cost?
Bellagio is the Las Vegas Strip resort built by Mirage Resorts on the former Dunes site. Work began in November 1995 and the original hotel-casino opened on 15 October 1998 with about 3,005 rooms, a lake and its choreographed fountains. In a 1999 company release, Mirage called the original development a $1.6 billion facility; the figure is the opening-era resort cost, not a current valuation. The resort later gained the separate Spa Tower in 2004 and underwent further room renovations. Their distinct budgets are listed separately below rather than added to the 1998 figure. The 156,000-square-foot casino quoted elsewhere is only the gaming floor, not the gross area of the whole resort.
