How much did the Parksville–Mud Bay section of Highway 19 cost?

The Parksville–Mud Bay section was the first completed stretch of the Inland Island Highway on Vancouver Island, now carrying British Columbia Highway 19. The new 45-kilometre road opened on 5 October 1996. According to the provincial transportation ministry, its CAD 175 million construction cost included 17 bridges, three interchanges, two intersections and a separate 5.7-kilometre access road to Qualicum Beach. This figure applies to the Parksville–Mud Bay phase alone, not the full Highway 19 corridor or the later Campbell River and Port Hardy extensions.
