How much did the extension of Calgary CTrain — West LRT extension cost?

The West LRT extension added an 8.2 km double-track corridor and six stations to Calgary's CTrain network, with related road, pedestrian and cycling works. It is not the price of building the whole system, whose first South Line opened in 1981. The new route began service on 10 December 2012. A City of Calgary-commissioned transport study described the complete West LRT project's cost as approximately C$1.4 billion; the rounded figure covers the rail extension plus accompanying infrastructure, not just track and station construction. A 2014 City transit review reports 32,400 weekday passengers on the new line after its first year. The stored image illustrates a later CTrain vehicle downtown, not the West LRT worksite.
