Changsha Metro Line 2 runs east to west through Changsha, with the first phase from Guangda to Wangchengpo (22.08 km, 19 stations) opened in April 2014 and the first western extension from Wangchengpo to Meixihu West (4.45 km, 4 stations) opened in December 2015. The 2024 credit rating report of the city's rail operator lists 14.827 billion yuan invested in these two sections by March 2024, while a western extension phase 2 of 13.99 km with 11 stations was approved with an estimated total investment of 12.342 billion yuan.
