How much does Hamburg U5 cost?

The U5 is the new line of the Hamburg U-Bahn, about 29 km long with 24 new stops from Bramfeld through City Nord and the city centre to the Arenas in the Volkspark and on to Osdorfer Born, built since the first sod in autumn 2022, with the first section from Bramfeld to City Nord of almost six kilometres due for passenger service from 2029 and the full line by 2040. Hamburg's transport authority gave in January 2024 a long-term estimate of 14 to 16.5 billion euros for the total cost of building it.
