What was the estimated investment in Lanzhou–Xinjiang's second track?
The Lanzhou-Xinjiang high-speed railway (the second double track of the Lanzhou-Xinjiang railway) links Lanzhou in Gansu with Urumqi in Xinjiang across Qinghai, the world's longest high-speed railway built and opened in a single phase and the first in China's cold, windy and sandy northwest, designed for 200 km/h at the start and 250 km/h in service. The mobilization meeting held in Urumqi on 4 November 2009 marked the start of construction, and Shanghai Securities News reported on 5 November 2009 that the estimated total investment of the project was 143.5 billion yuan with a five-year construction period, before the line opened throughout on 26 December 2014.
