How much does North East Link cost?
North East Link is the Melbourne motorway and tunnel project that will connect the M80 Ring Road at Greensborough with the Eastern Freeway at Bulleen, with 6.5 km of twin tunnels after the 2021 lengthening, early works from 2020, tunnelling from mid 2024 and completion expected in late 2028. ABC News reported on 15 December 2023 that Premier Jacinta Allan revealed a AUD 10 billion blowout to almost AUD 26 billion, from about AUD 16 billion, and Wikipedia gives AUD 26.1 billion as of 2023 against the AUD 16.5 billion long-term budget set in 2017.
