How much did Perpignan – Barcelona high-speed rail line cost to build?
The Perpignan-Figueres high-speed rail link is the 44.4 km cross-border section of the Perpignan-Barcelona line with the 8 km twin-bore Perthus tunnel through the Pyrenees, built by the TP Ferro concession (a 50/50 joint venture of Eiffage and ACS-Dragados) with financing from France, Spain and the European Community. Railway Gazette reported in April 2009 that the total cost was EUR 1,096.7 million, of which EUR 523.7 million was covered by grants, and that the line opened as an infrastructure but had no trains because of Spanish delays.
