How much does Réseau express métropolitain cost?

The Réseau express métropolitain (REM) is a 67-km driverless, fully automated electric light metro with 26 stations in Greater Montréal, financed and built by CDPQ Infra, linking the South Shore, downtown, Deux-Montagnes, the West Island and Trudeau Airport, with the first South Shore branch opened on 31 July 2023 and further branches opening in stages. The Québec Auditor General's November 2024 audit reports that CDPQ Infra's March 2024 estimate of the sums planned to build the REM is about CAD 9.4 billion, of which CAD 8.3 billion remained for CDPQ Infra to finance after revenues and contributions, up from CAD 6.3 billion in 2018.
