How much did the BART extension to San Francisco International Airport and Millbrae cost?

The BART SFO Extension is an 8.7-mile extension of the Bay Area Rapid Transit system from Colma through South San Francisco and San Bruno to San Francisco International Airport and Millbrae, with five stations, opened on 22 June 2003 under a design-build programme. A May 2012 Mineta Transportation Institute case study says it evolved into a USD 1.5 billion project after the FTA's 1997 full funding grant agreement of USD 750 million was based on a USD 1,167 million estimate that rose to USD 1,483 million by early 2000.
