How much does the extension of São Paulo Metro Line 2 extension cost?

The São Paulo Metro Line 2-Green extension takes the line north-east from Vila Prudente through Penha towards Dutra and Guarulhos, planned as 13.8 km of new track in total. Revista O Empreiteiro reports total civil-works investment of R$ 7.8 billion for the first phase from Vila Prudente to Penha (8.3 km, eight stations), with commercial operation planned for December 2028 and a R$ 2.4 billion BNDES financing for phase 1. Exame reports in January 2026 that the first phase was over 55% complete and that R$ 2.59 billion was allocated to metro expansion in 2026; the Penha to Dutra phase has no separate cost in the sources opened.
