How much does Sepulveda Transit Corridor cost?

The Sepulveda Transit Corridor is a proposed Los Angeles Metro rail line through the Sepulveda Pass between the San Fernando Valley and the Westside, parallel to Interstate 405. In January 2026 Metro staff recommended, and a search summary says the Board approved on 23 January, Modified Alternative 5, a fully underground heavy-rail subway between Van Nuys Metrolink Station and the E Line Expo/Sepulveda Station. Metro states the preliminary capital cost for Alternative 5 as USD 24.2 billion in 2023 dollars, to be updated for the modified route, with phased delivery beginning with an initial operating segment; construction has not started.
