The Shelby Bypass (NCDOT project R-2707) is a planned 18.5-mile four-lane controlled-access bypass of Shelby, North Carolina, along US 74 in Cleveland County, being built in six sections since 2013. A 5.6-mile western segment opened on 13 April 2020 and the 5.3-mile segment from NC 226 to NC 150 on 16 June 2025, with the last sections expected to finish by April 2029. Wikipedia says the project is expected to cost USD 284 million, while the Shelby Star in February 2025 cited USD 167.4 million, a figure whose scope is not explained.
