What is the approved budget of Southern Expressway?
The Southern Expressway is a 20.7-kilometre freeway in southern Adelaide, South Australia, from South Road at St Marys to Main South Road at Old Noarlunga, built as a reversible one-way road in two stages opened on 17 December 1997 and 9 September 2001 at a reported A$76.5 million, then duplicated into a two-way freeway between 2010 and 2014. ABC News reported in November 2011 that the South Australian Government approved A$407 million for the duplication, due for completion by the middle of 2014. A separate A$120 million Majors Road exit, completed on 11 October 2025, is not part of that cost.
