How much does the extension of Stockholm — Barkarby cost?

The Barkarby extension of Stockholm Metro's Blue Line (the New Metro, Nya tunnelbanan) runs from Akalla to Barkarby with two new stations, Barkarbystaden and Barkarby, and is the first part of the New Metro to open. Byggindustrin reported on 25 September 2026 that its agreed financing of SEK 7.4 billion has been replaced by a new final-cost forecast of SEK 9.9 billion, part of a SEK 22.9 billion overrun on the whole New Metro (to about SEK 100 billion), with traffic start delayed to autumn 2028. Järnvägsnyheter reports that the project manager warns the Barkarby money could run out around year-end.
