How much was invested in the Thessaloniki Metro including the Kalamaria extension?
The Thessaloniki Metro is the driverless metro of Greece's second city, delivered by the state company Elliniko Metro S.A. with Greek and EU co-financing: a 9.6 km, 13-station Base Line that entered revenue service on 30 November 2024, and a Kalamaria extension of almost five kilometres with five new stations that opened on 27 August 2026. The operator describes an investment exceeding EUR 3 billion for both lines, 18 driverless air-conditioned trains and platform screen doors at every station.
