What is the budget of the Yonge North Subway Extension in Toronto and Richmond Hill?

The Yonge North Subway Extension (YNSE) will extend TTC Line 1 about 8 km north from Finch Station to Richmond Hill in York Region, Ontario, with five stations, three underground and two at surface level, after a 2021 redesign cut it from six underground stations because the fully underground version had risen to CAD 9.3 billion. Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario are delivering it, awarded the CAD 1.4 billion advance tunnelling contract (twin 6.3 km tunnels) to North End Connectors in August 2025, and plan opening around 2030. The project budget is the CAD 5.6 billion funding envelope, which Metrolinx said at the time could not buy all five stations.
