How much does the Vantaa light rail cost to build?
The Vantaa light rail (Vantaan ratikka) is a 19.3 km tramway from Mellunmäki in Helsinki through Hakunila, Tikkurila and Aviapolis to Helsinki Airport, with 27 stops, about 500 m of it in Helsinki to connect with the metro. Construction began in 2025 and the City of Vantaa gives a construction cost of EUR 750 million, up from EUR 606 million in the 2023 plan, with traffic due in 2029 as part of HSL's regional transport system.
