What is the approved estimated cost of Phase 1 of the Vijayawada Metro in Andhra Pradesh?

The Vijayawada Metro is a planned metro rail system for Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. Phase 1 has two corridors totalling 38.4 km: Pandit Nehru Bus Station to Gannavaram (about 25.9 km) and Pandit Nehru Bus Station to Penamaluru (about 12.5 km), on an elevated viaduct. The state government approved the phase 1 project report on 3 December 2024 at Rs 11,009 crore and the central government approved it on 5 December 2024; the Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation invited bids for the first civil contract of about Rs 4,150 crore in July 2025.
