Virginia State Route 27, Washington Boulevard, is a 2.54-mile (4.09 km) freeway in Arlington County beside the Pentagon. Its largest recent project was the Route 27/244 interchange work that replaced the old arch bridge over Columbia Pike with the two new Freedmans Village Bridges: construction started in spring 2012, the northbound bridge opened in November 2013, the southbound bridge in August 2015, and the bridge was dedicated on 10 September 2015. Roads & Bridges put the project at USD 48.5 million.
