Road or highway 路 United States

How much did the reconstruction of Washington State Route 504 cost?

Washington State Route 504, the Spirit Lake Memorial Highway, leads from Interstate 5 near Castle Rock to the Johnston Ridge Observatory at Mount St. Helens. After the 1980 eruption destroyed the old road, a reconstruction with 23 miles (37 km) of new road at higher elevation and ten major bridges began in 1988, reaching the Coldwater Ridge visitor centre on 16 October 1992 and Johnston Ridge in May 1997. The project was reported at $118 million, paid from Federal Highway Administration emergency funds; a 2023 landslide destroyed the Spirit Lake Outlet Bridge and rebuilding is under way.
