How much did Akkuyu Nuclear Plant cost to build?

Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant is a four-unit VVER-1200 project under construction on Türkiye's Mediterranean coast in Mersin Province. Akkuyu Nuclear JSC is developing and will operate the 4,800 MWe plant under the build-own-operate agreement signed by Türkiye and Russia in 2010. First concrete for Unit 1 was poured on 3 April 2018, and construction subsequently began on all four units. The completed station is expected to generate about 35 TWh annually, roughly one tenth of Türkiye's 2024 electricity use. Unit 1 remained in commissioning tests in June 2026, while the official programme targeted full commercial operation of the four-unit plant in 2028.
