How much did Allianz Field cost to build?
Allianz Field is a 19,400-seat soccer-specific stadium in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and the home of Minnesota United FC. A ceremonial groundbreaking took place in December 2016, primary construction began in June 2017, and Mortenson handed the completed stadium to the club in February 2019 before its first Major League Soccer match on 13 April. The 346,000-square-foot venue uses a translucent PTFE exterior skin, a 360-degree roof canopy and a sunken natural-grass pitch. Its privately financed stadium cost rose from early estimates of $150 million and $200 million to a reported completed cost of $250 million; Saint Paul and its Housing and Redevelopment Authority separately contributed $22 million for public infrastructure around the site.
