How much did Aloha Stadium cost to build?
Aloha Stadium was a 50,000-seat multipurpose venue in H膩lawa, O驶ahu, owned by the State of Hawaii. Built for $37 million, it opened on 12 September 1975 with four movable seating sections that could reconfigure the bowl for football, baseball, soccer and concerts鈥攖he first venue of its kind according to a state-commissioned site study. The same report records an $80 million corrosion-abatement programme completed between 1985 and 1995, followed by increasingly costly repair plans as salt-laden air continued to damage the weathering-steel structure. By 2017, state studies estimated $300 million in critical health-and-safety repairs plus $121 million for accessibility and code compliance. Public events in the seating bowl ceased in 2021, and the original stadium was being dismantled in 2026 to clear the site for a separately funded replacement.
