Stadium · Austria

How much did Alpenstadion's complete 1987 reconstruction cost?

Alpenstadion is a municipal football and athletics venue in Kapfenberg, Styria, and the home ground of Kapfenberger SV. Local historical reporting dates construction to 1947 and the opening to 10 September 1950, when Austria Wien defeated the home side 8–1 before about 10,000 spectators. The City of Kapfenberg records a complete renewal in 1987: everything except the grass pitch was rebuilt for approximately €6.54 million. The complex later gained floodlighting, a video wall, athletics timing and training facilities, while a permanent additional stand was completed in 2011. The stadium was named for former mayor Franz Fekete from 2001 before the city restored the Alpenstadion name in December 2023. Its current municipal listing gives capacity as about 10,000 visitors, including 3,000 seats.
