How much did the Ara–Chhapra Bridge cost when it opened in 2017?
The Ara–Chhapra Bridge, officially Veer Kunwar Singh Setu, is a 4.35-kilometre four-lane crossing of the Ganges between Bihar's Bhojpur and Saran districts. Its 1.92-kilometre navigational section is a multi-span extradosed structure with 120-metre spans; 608 precast concrete box-girder segments were erected for the crossing. SP Singla Constructions built the bridge with design and erection engineering by McElhanney. Work began after the foundation stone was laid in 2010, and the bridge opened on 11 June 2017, cutting out the long road detour through Patna between northern and southern Bihar.
