How much did Basarab Overpass cost to build?
Basarab Overpass carries road traffic and trams across the railway approaches to Bucharest North station and the Dambovita River. Built by the FCC-Astaldi joint venture, it combines a cable-stayed railway crossing, an arch bridge and connecting viaducts. FCC gives a total passage length of 1,950 metres including ramps; a structural-monitoring study describes the cable-stayed pylon as about 84 metres high. The city's infrastructure directorate put the cost at roughly EUR 240 million around the 2011 opening, compared with an approximately EUR 120 million original construction contract; other later reports cite EUR 255 million. The structure opened to traffic in June 2011, although formal municipal acceptance remained unresolved years later.
