How much did Beijing Capital International Airport Terminal 3 cost?

Beijing Capital International Airport Terminal 3 is the airport’s three-part passenger complex built for the 2008 Olympics. Construction began on 28 March 2004; the wider expansion passed aviation-industry acceptance in December 2007. T3 opened in stages from 29 February and became fully operational on 26 March 2008. China’s civil aviation authority reported about 986,000 square metres of terminal floor area, while design engineer Arup described a capacity of 35 million passengers a year. A contemporary report put the terminal at US$3.8 billion; that reported figure is not an audited final construction account and should not be confused with the separate acquisition price for the airport’s wider Phase III assets.
