Stadium 路 People's Republic of China

How much did Beijing National Stadium cost?

Beijing National Stadium, the steel-lattice Bird's Nest in Olympic Green, was built for the 2008 Summer Olympics. Work began on 24 December 2003, and the venue was completed on 28 June 2008. It held 91,000 spectators during the Games, including 11,000 temporary seats; its permanent post-Games capacity is 80,000. The 2004 redesign targeted roughly CNY 2.3 billion in construction cost, but later public investment reports put the whole stadium near CNY 3.5?3.596 billion. Those figures reflect different stages and reporting scopes, not a verified single audited final account. Beijing's construction authority records 257,989 square metres of floor area and 42,000 tonnes of structural steel.
