How much did Benjamin Sheares Bridge cost to build?
Benjamin Sheares Bridge crosses the Kallang Basin and Marina Bay between the eastern approach to central Singapore and the city centre. Built by the Public Works Department from 1977, the eight-lane elevated crossing opened on 26 September 1981 as part of the East Coast Parkway. It is about 1.8 kilometres long and reaches 29 metres at its highest point, allowing vessels to pass beneath its specially designed trestles. Singapore's National Heritage Board reports a construction cost of S$110 million. After the Marina Coastal Expressway opened in 2013, the crossing's road function shifted from expressway to arterial road.
