How much did Betsy Ross Bridge cost to build?
The Betsy Ross Bridge is a six-lane continuous steel-truss crossing of the Delaware River between Philadelphia and Pennsauken, New Jersey. The Delaware River Port Authority reports $102.3 million as the original bridge's initial investment, not as an audited final construction account. Construction began in 1969 and traffic first crossed on 30 April 1976. The operator gives an abutment-to-abutment length of 8,485 feet (about 2.59 km). A separate $93 million painting and structural-repair programme begun in 2023 is a later preservation project, not part of the original investment. The present bridge photograph was taken from Pennsauken Township in 2023.
