How much did Brașov Airport cost to build?
Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport serves the Brasov area from Ghimbav, Romania. Its first flights operated on 15 June 2023, making it the country's first newly built airport in about 50 years. The airport's commercial policy describes the initial investment as EUR 140 million; this is a reported project investment, not a line-by-line audited final construction account or the price of future expansions. A 2012 planning-stage report put the wider airport project at EUR 87 million, while later procurement separated the runway and the three-level passenger terminal. The terminal has 11,780 square metres of gross floor area, and the airport recorded 337,353 passengers in calendar 2025. A remotely operated air-traffic-control system was among the airport's distinctive opening features.
