How much did Brock's Bridge cost to build?
Brock's Bridge is the 63-metre road, cycle and pedestrian crossing over the River Avon linking Cattle Market Road with Bristol's former rail-depot site at Temple Island. The Homes and Communities Agency funded it as access for an arena that was later cancelled. The bridge was complete when it was named for Victorian Bristol builder William Brock in March 2016, but it was still fenced off a year later; completion must not be confused with opening to traffic. Bristol24/7 reported a GBP 11.3 million bridge cost in 2017, compared with an approximately GBP 11 million figure during installation in 2015. An earlier GBP 7-12 million tender range covered both the bridge and associated road improvements, so it is not a clean bridge-only price. The steel structure spans about 18 metres across and was assembled from 137 pieces of steel.
