How much did Channel Tunnel cost to build?

The Channel Tunnel is the 50.46 km rail tunnel under the English Channel between Folkestone in England and Coquelles in France, a privately financed build-own-operate-transfer project started on 1 December 1987 and opened on 6 May 1994. The Global Infrastructure Hub's case study says the cost, originally estimated at 4.8 billion pounds in 1985, reached 9.5 billion pounds by the end of construction, an 80 percent overrun in real terms.
