Daocheng Yading Airport is the airport in Daocheng County, Garze Prefecture, Sichuan, China, at an altitude of 4,411 m the highest civilian airport in the world, opened on 16 September 2013. English Wikipedia says construction started after the airport was approved in April 2011, with a total investment of 1.58 billion yuan, about 255 million dollars, a figure a local government site is reported to give as well.
