How much did Francis Scott Key Bridge (Washington, D.C.) cost to build?
The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Washington, D.C. is the six-lane reinforced concrete arch bridge carrying U.S. Route 29 across the Potomac River between Georgetown and Rosslyn, Virginia, designed by Nathan C. Wyeth in 1916 to replace the old Aqueduct Bridge, begun in 1917 and opened on 17 January 1923, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The DC Preservation League's historic sites page says the actual total cost of the structure was 2.5 million dollars, although Congress had authorized a new bridge not to exceed one million.
