How much is earmarked for the second Gotthard road tunnel tube?
The second bore of the Gotthard Road Tunnel is the new 16.9 km tube parallel to the existing A2 road tunnel between Goschenen and Airolo in Switzerland, built by the Federal Roads Office so that the first tube can be refurbished from 2030 to 2033 without closing the route, with the second tube scheduled to open in 2030. The Federal Roads Office states that 2.14 billion Swiss francs has been earmarked for its construction, an estimate with an accuracy of plus or minus 15 percent excluding VAT.
